Fatamorgana Monti sits on a small square in Rome’s Monti district, a short walk from the crowds of the Colosseum, with benches and a fountain just outside the door. The shop is small and quaint, with a long counter displaying dozens of inventive flavors, from basil, walnut and honey to chocolate made with Madagascar beans. Visitors can order a cone or cup and then step out to enjoy it at the fountain or on the piazza's benches. Gluten free versions of the ice cream are available here. The staff are known for patiently guiding first-timers through the extensive, rotating menu.
