The Bush Inn is a centuries-old country pub on the Itchen river, its low-ceilinged, dark-timbered rooms lit by open fires and furnished with the kind of old tables and chairs that match its age. The garden out back runs down to the clear water, with a footpath along the chalk stream leading to a bridge, and on a summer day the outdoor tables fill with walkers, cyclists and dogs. It stands on an old pilgrim route in Ovington, reached down a tree-lined lane, and guests often linger there after a stroll.
